About

My name is Angela Dora Dobrzynski. I’m a professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania and am passionate for all things personal development and human behavior. I specialize in grief and non-death losses, and I also work with clients through significant life transitions and other concerns. I have an orientation toward health and stress psychology, spiritual integration, emotional resilience and utilizing strengths as the basis of personal development.

Credentials

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania, and am an approved teletherapy provider in the state of Florida. Additionally, I am a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist and I hold a certificate in Holistic Health Coaching from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. My Master’s degree is in Counseling Psychology from Rosemont College and my Bachelor’s degree is in Psychology from Stockton University.

Experience

Prior to private practice, I worked as a Bereavement Counselor for Main Line Health Homecare and Hospice. I spent twelve years working at Women’s Resource Center, where I provided solutions-focused counseling to clients facing significant life transitions. Prior to that I worked for six years at The Renfrew Center, a residential treatment facility for eating disorders patients. I was adjunct faculty at Manor College teaching Developmental Psychology and a course I created on Stress and Health Psychology.  I have worked in all levels of education, including high school counseling in a public school district and the therapeutic nursery at Children’s Crisis Treatment Center. I am a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.

Approach

My approach to counseling starts with our relationship. I seek to understand you from a holistic and lifespan perspective. This includes respect for and consideration of your religious and spiritual beliefs. Given this understanding, I will share my observations with you, allowing you to connect the dots of your relevant life experience. From there we develop your primary goals for counseling and begin interventions to reach those goals. When appropriate, I will provide tools, skills and resources to support you.

Session Format

Teletherapy sessions are held via HIPAA-compliant Zoom, and typically last 50 minutes. I offer in-person office sessions in Downingtown, PA. Walk-and-Talk Sessions and Home Visits are also available. See the Counseling Section of the Services Page for more information.

Fees

Rate per session is $150, payable by credit card, HSA/FSA card or cash (for in-person clients only). I do not accept any health insurance. All other fees are outlined in their respective sections on the Services Page.

Scheduling

I will be on leave January-March 2024. If you are interested in beginning short-term, solutions-focused counseling prior to that, please submit your information via the Contact Page. If you are looking for ongoing therapy, please pursue other options. I will resume accepting new clients in March 2024. Best wishes!
